Dear Readers

I'm back and I'm very sorry about my absence, but this time I'm excused. I've been travelling to Sweden (which the followers on Facebook probably already know) to pick up some very interesting and very good leathers from a Tannery in Sweden called Tärnsjö. In my opinion they make some of the best vegetable tanned leathers in the world and I'm very pleased to be able to offer some products made of their leathers soon.

I'll also be doing a "factory visit" about Tärnsjö in the near future, however I had to take the pictures myself, and I'm afraid, that they didn't turn out as good, as they could have, had I brought a photographer. It was hard taking pictures, while I also had to talk with the people there, inspect their leathers and at the same time pick out the best leathers. My first priority was to pick the right leathers and soon I'll be offering belts of a really good quality and I hope, that it's something, that you would be interested in.

Anyways, I've got to get settled in and shortly more posts will follow. I should probably also add, that I've recently turned After the Denim into a real company, so I hope to formalise a lot of things and add a webshop with my own products and products by other makers, brands and designers in the time to come. This means, that there's a lot of work to be done, and I'm the only employee at the moment. But I promise, that this place is always a top priority, so don't despair.

Again, I would like to thank all of you, who keep coming back. You really make this worthwhile. And if there's anything, that you would like me to blog about, feel free to e-mail me or write a suggestion in the commentary. I'll do my best to follow up on them all.

Hansen - SS12 Images

I saw these pictures some time ago, when we visited the lovely people over at Hansen (remember?), and I couldn't help feeling an urge to go to Sweden in the summertime - actually I just wanted the seasons to change into summer all together. But spending the summer in Sweden wouldn't be too bad either. Which reminds me, I should probably finally spend a vacation in Sweden, as I really want to visit the tannery in Tärnsjö as well.

I won't say much about these pictures other than I think, that the men in Åse's family (because that is exactly what they are - real men) look very handsome and the pictures are very nice as well. The clothes look amazing too of course.

I really look forward to spending some time with our friends at Hansen and hopefully we can cover some of their interesting garments yet again in another post.

Mr Mudd and Mr Gold

Before you start reading, you should probably bookmark this shop under a new folder called "people doing it right!" I will continuously be adding more shops to that list, as we get on.

I sometimes find myself secretly wanting to be Swedish - only in brief moments though, but it does happen. It happens when I listen to the music of Håkan Hellström of whom I have very fond memories from my adolescent and it reminds me of my best friend. Secondly the Swedes seem way more into denim on a geeky level in Sweden - Just check out the brothers Luhanko of Blue Highway and now Unionville. And as I was writing this, the great tannery Tärnsjö came to mind. Tärnsjö makes vegetable tanned leather of a rather good quality. Hopefully I'll make a pilgrimage to Tärnsjö real soon and I'll bring some leather home.

What made me commence this rant, was the shop Mr Mudd and Mr Gold. It is just perfect. What makes it perfect could be the fact that it sells hard-to-get Japan-only products, it could also be the nice assortment of vintage garments, it could also be the wide variety of knives or it could be the rather silly, but just right items like the Messograf pen (which isn't a really good pen, but it is one of the most original and fun pens ever made).
I guess you just have to say that the guys behind Mr Mudd and Mr Gold are great at creating and curating a mix of interesting, beautiful, well-made, rugged and just plain good objects.

Hopefully some Danish shops will take notice and even learn from our neighbours.
