Supreme x Daniel Johnston

I'm by no means infatuated with Supreme, but I am infatuated with Daniel Johnston. I have a tremendous amount of respect for Supreme as a brand and I'm amazed by the way, that they've built their business. But I've never owned anything by Supreme and never really thought, that I would. Still this could very well change now.

None of the t-shirts bear the characteristic and iconic "Hi, how are you?" print, that was popularized by the late Kurt Cobain, but the prints are still recognisably Daniel Johnston-esque and that's really, what sets them apart from any random printed t-shirt. Fans of Daniel Johnston will recognise some of his typical cartoonish motives like Captain America, the religious symbols, the (actual and physical) fight between good and evil, the monster with multiple eyes and so on.

Oh, and if you haven't seen the documentary on Daniel Johnston called "The Devil and Daniel Johnston", I suggest, that you do so right away. It'll give you a better understanding and appreciation of Daniel Johnston as a musician and as an artist.

Worth a Listen - Twin Shadow

Music is an integral part of my life, but lately I've not been writing much about it, however that doesn't mean I'm not discovering new - and old - music all the time and whenever I get the chance, I try to go to concerts.

When I think about it, I really don't know, why I didn't write about Twin Shadow a long, long time ago, as his debut album is probably the album, that I listened to the most in 2011. It's just that good. "Forget" as the debut album is called is filled with good songs from start to end. I would dare say, that there is no low points on it, which immediately makes for a great album, so if you're into electropop, dream pop, new wave and possibly a tad of R'n'B (I may be going out on a limb with this description), then this is for you.

I don't know, if the song "Slow" is my favourite song of the album, but I like the fact, that the video pays homage to this creepy Calvin Klein commercial, which luckily got banned.

There's a new release on it's way from Twin Shadow. It's titled "Confess" and it's due in July. Needles to say, I'm very excited about this.

Worth a Listen - The Magnetic Fields

I figured, that since it's been a long time, since I posted anything about music.

Here's a classic indie pop band, The Magnetic Fields. Some of you are of course familiar with them already, but if you aren't, you are in for treat. My favourite record is the very conceptual love album called, "69 Love Songs", which is basically the biggest and most eclectic collection of love songs ever made.

I couldn't figure out which of the 69 songs to highlight, so I decided to go for a song, that isn't from that record. And it may actually be my favourite song of theirs "Strange Powers", which is taken from their album, "Holiday".
